Dublin City University (DCU) was founded in 1974 as the National Institute for Higher Education. In 1989, DCU became achieved university status by statute.
The university currently has approximately 6,000 undergraduate students. DCU also has over 600 research postgraduates and 1,800 taught postgraduate students.
