Continuing Professional Development or CPD refers to the process of tracking and documenting the skills, knowledge and experience that is gained both formally and informally in employment - usually beyond any initial training. These can be stand-alone modules taken after a learner has received a primary degree. Certain professional bodies require members to undertake a number of Continuing Professional Development courses or hours every year to remain certified as members or professionals. Continuing Professional Development is the means by which professionals develop and maintain their level of competency.
