Boards play a hugely important role in the overall leadership, governance and performance of public service bodies. As such, Board members need to be equipped with the knowledge and capabilities to enable and foster a well-functioning and effective Board.
The Institute of Public Administration (IPA) has over the past 25 years developed unparalleled knowledge and expertise in public service governance and has worked with a wide array of public service boards and governing bodies to build capabilities and support good governance.
Drawing on this extensive experience, this course is designed to equip board members with the knowledge and capabilities to play a full and active role in the good governance of their organisations.
Board Member Training is a half day course that is delivered in person, on scheduled dates, from 9.30 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. This course is facilitated by subject matter experts. In person training will take place at the IPA in Dublin.
Who is this course for?
This course will support new Board and governing body members to better understand the context in which they govern in the public service, the expectations of boards and board members, and what makes for effective boards.
