The Certi cate in Local Government Studies provides participants with a grounding in the principal areas of legislation and practice in local government and with the core knowledge and understanding to enable them to work effectively within their role and operational area. It is aimed at those working in Local Government in Ireland and those working for agencies with links to Local Authorities.
The Certificate is delivered via distance learning and is supported by attendance at 5 one day tutorials over one academic year.

| Career Path | Students can choose to complete only the Certificate programme however many of our graduates have successfully continued their studies with the Diploma in Local Government Studies. Students also have the opportunity upon completion of the Diploma in Local Government Studies and a bridging studies programme to progress to year three of the IPA’s Bachelor of Arts (Local Government Management stream). |
