Course Content

Keltia’s Autodesk AutoCAD & Revit Fundamentals course is designed to introduce candidates to 2D drafting, 3D modeling. BIM workflows. In addition to the fundamentals, candidates can also explore more advanced tools and techniques if needed.

Day 1 Revit Basic Fundamentals
Day 2 House Project - Basemant/First and Second Floor
Day 3 House Project - Stairs and Fireplace with Chimney
Day 4 Drafting - Plans and Elevations
Day 5 Introduction to BIM360

This course is available for both individuals and groups, with 4 to 40 hours of training delivered through our Keltia online portal. https://www.keltia-ireland.ie/online-cad-mentoring/.

Classes typically run on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the late afternoon, but scheduling is flexible to accommodate students. Live engineer instructor-led sessions ensure hands-on learning for faster and higher-quality skill development. We also try to tailor our content to your learning needs so if there are specific topics you would like to cover let us know.

Course Content – Autodesk AutoCAD & Revit Fundamentals & Advanced

AutoCAD Fundamentals 

  • Introduction to AutoCAD – User interface, navigation, and workspace setup
  • 2D Drafting & Sketching – Creating and editing lines, polylines, circles, and arcs
  • Object Snaps & Constraints – Applying geometric and dimensional constraints
  • Layers & Annotation – Managing layers, text, dimensions, and hatching
  • Blocks & Attributes – Creating reusable symbols and dynamic blocks
  • Layout & Printing – Setting up layouts, scales, and plotting drawings

Revit Fundamentals

  • Introduction to Revit – User interface, navigation, and project setup
  • Architectural Design – Creating walls, doors, windows, floors, and roofs
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) – Understanding Revit's parametric modeling approach
  • Schedules & Documentation – Generating schedules, annotations, and construction drawings

Revit Advanced

  • Structural Design – Developing structural framing, foundations, and reinforcements
  • MEP Systems – Designing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Family Creation & Customization – Building parametric components and templates
  • Advanced Rendering & Visualization – Applying materials, lighting, and photorealistic rendering

This AutoCAD & Revit training course provides practical, hands-on experience, equipping students with the skills needed for architectural, structural, and/or MEP design.

Course Content – Electrical Schematics with AutoCAD

Introduction to AutoCAD Electrical

  • Overview of AutoCAD Electrical
  • User Interface & Workspace Setup – Navigating toolbars, command panels, and project manager.
  • File Management & Templates – Setting up drawing templates and project files.

Creating Electrical Schematics

  • Drawing & Editing Electrical Circuits – Using wires, connectors, and bus configurations.
  • Component Insertion & Tagging – Managing part numbers and references.
  • Wire Numbering & Cross-Referencing – Automating wire numbering and tracing connections.

Panel Layouts

  • Designing Control Panels – Placing components and managing panel layouts.
  • Generating Bills of Materials (BOM) – Extracting parts lists automatically.

 

Course Content – Navisworks and Plant 3D Users

Introduction to Navisworks

  • Overview of Navisworks Manage vs. Simulate

  • Key Concepts: Aggregation, Coordination, Review

  • Understanding file types: NWF, NWD, NWC

Model Integration & Navigation

  • Importing and managing Revit and Plant 3D models

  • Navigating 3D models efficiently: walkthroughs, viewpoints, and sectioning

  • Object properties and model hierarchy

Clash Detection & Coordination

  • Setting up clash tests between Revit and Plant 3D disciplines

  • Configuring rules and tolerances

  • Reviewing and managing clashes

  • Creating and assigning clash reports

Timeliner & Construction Simulation

  • Introduction to 4D simulation

  • Linking model geometry to schedules

  • Running and exporting construction simulations

Quantification & Reporting

  • Using quantification tools in Navisworks

  • Generating takeoffs from integrated models

  • Exporting quantity reports for estimating

Collaboration & Communication

  • Using viewpoints, redlines, and comments for coordination

  • Exporting reports and animations for stakeholder communication

  • Integrating Navisworks with BIM 360 and other platforms
