Adult Scene Study is a 10-week beginner/improver adult acting performance course covering some of the basics of voice and body work, improvisation, understanding text and performance. Often students return to this course again and again to create new characters and sharpen their performance skills. It requires a commitment to perform in the theatre on the final evening of the course.
In class, we will approach the acting work playfully and gently while maintaining a challenging level. It is suitable for beginners, as well as those with some experience who are interested in exercising and refining their technique. The course will finish with a presentation night for an invited audience, in which the students perform in an improvised performance as well as a 5-10 minute memorized and rehearsed scene from a play.
Due to the nature of the group work, this course is best suited to the student who is willing to attend all of the classes and who can be reliable to their fellow performers. It will require memorizing lines and a good bit of time outside of class hours for preparation.
Class size is limited to 10 students maximum, in order to assure the highest level of attention for all participants.
You must be committed to attend all of the classes, prepare for and attend the final performance night and be available for technical rehearsal that afternoon.
